Sometimes it is good to pretend that you are in a comic strip; life seems more interesting that way. This is a recent picture of me from the recent photo shoot that I did. I have to say this is one of my favorite photos of all time and I had a lot of fun on this shoot. It made me realize how far I have come when it comes to my body issues and my limits and how to break said limits and go beyond them. Its really refreshing and I am rather proud of myself.
The other reason I am posting this is because it is First Friday (or art hop if you will) in Down Town Winston! 😀 So I shall shall be hoping from gallery to gallery, looking at local art and drinking wine. YAY! It’s one of the high lights during the first part of each month that I look forward to in Winston Salem. I get to hang out with all of my friends and enjoy some lovely artwork. Plus, it is the first art hop of the spring season so it makes me really happy that it is warming up outside. New beginnings seems to be the trend these days. I really don’t think I belong in this time period. Reasons? Well, I enjoy nice gardens, hand written letters and I have the firm belief that no one should ever wear sweatpants in public. Yes, that is right. I think people should actually put forth effort in how they look when they go out into the real wold. Call it old timey or what you will, I am sticking to it.
Ever since I was little, my Nanny (aka grandma) raised me with the sensibility to be a lady. You cross your legs when sitting, you expect gentleman to hold open doors, and you ALWAYS dress nicely when you go out in public. Period. That is how she was taught and that is what she was going to teach me since I was her granddaughter. Funny enough, times has changed to wear you can get away with wearing just a g-sting and nipple pasties practically while getting groceries, let alone pajamas. It makes me rather sad.
What happened to people taking pride in themselves and wanting to look nice? I don’t mean always wear a suit or a ball gown (although if I had the choice I would. Men in suits, nuff said), but just taking the time to actually put on a decent outfit when you go to run some errands. It makes you feel better when you take time for yourself, even if it just means putting on a pair of nice jeans and a cool t-shirt.
Too often we think it is selfish to want to look good. “I don’t have time because I am a new mom. I don’t feel well. What if people judge me and call me a slut?” You know what? You taking that time to look halfway decent actually makes a better impression on others and sets an example for people. It makes them go, “Wow, they really take care of theirself.” It makes a better impression on your boss, your significant other, your family, even the random guy at your local coffee shop.
I know a lot of people my age are in school and sweatpants are easy, especially if you sleep late. Putting on real pants with a real shirt is just as much effort as putting on PJ pants though. Take the time to be good to yourself, it pays off. So leave the sweatpants at home. Namaste.

I made a list, still have to repack some stuff but at least I have a list. I have never flown on a plane before so I am a bit nervous, but I think I will be okay. Leave it to me to procrastinate about everything… oh well. So here is my list and I hope it helps all of you.

- 2 scarves (Red and Printed)
- 2 Bags (Evening and Day)
- 3 shoes (Heels, Brown Boot and Wedge Boot)
- 2 button ups (Chambray and White)
- 2 blouses (Green and White, both embellished)
- 2 jackets/ blazers (Black tweed and Black leather)
- 1 sweatshirt (Gray)
- 3 small belts (Black, Brown and Gold)
- 1 set of Pajamas
- undies and bras (enough for the trip)
- straightening iron
- journal and pens
- a good book
- hand sanitizer
- lip balm
- charger and phone and headphones
- mints/gum/breath spray
- ear plugs and eye mask
- small pillow
That’s about it. It seems like a lot but it really isn’t that bad since ill be wearing some of it on the plane ride. It is a lot better than how I normally am with trips too and it all can mix and match. Yes, I wear a lot of black if you didn’t notice but I am brightening it up with accessories so it won’t be too dull. I hope this helps some of you and Namaste!
Cleansing for the novice
I am a fashion junkie, and Who What Wear is one of my favorite blogs. I have been a long time follower and the fact they have started endorsing juicing/ cleansing makes me extremely happy! See? Health and fashion do go hand in hand 😉

So, here we are in the beginning of the new year, 2013. So far so good on my part as I have made quite a few changes already. To start off, this blog is one of my New Years resolutions. Odd, I know… Starting a blog as a resolution might seem kind of underwhelming I am sure. However, I do have a few good reasons. I am an artist, writer, model, cook, lover of food, yogini, traveler, lover of all things vintage, fashionista and several other things (bit eclectic). I have a very open mind and an open heart, so I figured I would share my thoughts with the world. And what better way to do that? Well a blog of course!!!
So, as you see this blog will be a little bit of everything, like me. A bit of writing, some art, pictures of traveling and everyday things, things I do, who I hang out with, ect ect ect… Now that that is out of the way, I can tell you a bit more about my other “Resolutions”. On top of starting this blog, I have a list of things that I am going to accomplish in 2013. They follow as such.
- Stop saying no to opportunities and being scared of what others will say/think/do.
- Be vegan for an entire month and then add things back in according to the macrobiotic diet (or something along those lines for the most part).
- Love myself as I am, even though I am growing and changing. Stay in the now.
- Create a daily yoga practice and continue it from here on out.
- Meditate on a regular basis (3-5 times a week)
- Travel more
- Live green
- Go back to school this fall
- Strengthen my spiritual practice
- Create more artwork and show/sell my products
- Learn French
There are a few others but those are the main ones. Needless to say i have quite a bit on my plate, but that is okay. I like a challenge, and this year is the year I take the bull by the horns and just run with it! Nothing is going to stop me from my goals no matter what. Everything I will do will be out of love and kindness, so that will hopefully help me out in the Karma department. So, here I am, all laid out for you. We have only scratched the surface, but there is still more to come. I hope you will enjoy this journey as much as I am going to. Till marrow, I must bid thee adieu.
